Weather permitting, the Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) will begin work to replace the bridge on East Broad Street (Route 250) over Interstate 95 in the City of Richmond. This work will be completed during a series of weekend closures. Starting Friday, March 1 at 8 p.m. the northbound and southbound travel lanes of I-95 at mile marker 74 will be reduced to one lane continuously through Monday, March 4 at 6 a.m. In addition, Exit 74 C (I-95 north to Broad Street), Broad Street in both directions at the bridge over I-95 and the westbound ramp from Broad Street to I-95 will also be closed through the weekend. Access to pedestrians on Broad Street will remain available. Detours will be implemented to direct motorists around the work zone. Motorists traveling through the Richmond area are encouraged to use I-295, I-195, Route 288, and Route 1/301 to avoid significant delays.
