Three Things to Kick About

  1. Riding High – I honestly don’t remember the last time the Kickers scored 5 goals in a month. On Tuesday they scored 5 goals in one game. The team was much sharper than previous outings. You have to take this with a grain of salt because the opponent hasn’t started their season yet. Regardless, we’ll take it as a positive and move on.
  2. Injury Update – Joao saw a few minutes towards the end of the game. Emiliano Terzaghi wasn’t even on the bench. After Sawatsky teased the return of Emi I was hopeful to see him get a few minutes. Maybe this game Emi will be the Kickers super-sub and come in the late game. I’d be shocked if he started.
  3. Tired – As a fan I’m tired after going to so many games in the past 30 days. I can’t imagine the toll it’s taken on the players. The Kickers schedule especially with the Open Cup involved has been very busy so if players run out of steam in the 2nd half don’t be surprised. The good news is that the Kickers haven’t had to travel recently and our opponent is facing a cross-country flight.

Central Valley Fuego has played 3 league games, 1 more than the Kickers, and has only 1 win and a -3 goal differential. The Kickers have 0 wins in 2 league games so far this season and the same -3 goal differential. I’m taking this to mean the two teams are very close in quality. I’m also hoping the Kickers will be pumped up after the Tuesday night win. I’m going all in on the Kickers.
