Red Cap Patisserie opens its doors in The Fan

A couple weeks ago, Red Cap Pastisserie opened its doors in the former Lucille’s Bakery on Meadow Street. This small storefront is serving up some delicious pastries and other treats including some that may be new to your vocabulary, including Kouign Amanns (a cross between a sticky bun and a croissant) and Tourtieres (a savory pie). Richard Hayes paid the place a visit and reports everything is delicious as it sounds.

The Boathouse is now serving its own Ironclad Coffee blend

The Boathouse and Casa del Barco are known for their food and, in the case of Casa, their tequila. Now they’ve got something for the caffeine set. Boathouse blend was developed in with local Ironclad Coffee Roasters. This custom coffee blend combines a coffee from the Oaxaca region of Mexico with a Brazilian coffee for a rich, chocolatey flavor. Both restaurants will be serving up the same blend in a French press, but Casa del Barco guests will have the option of enjoying a nice cold brewed coffee drink.

Richard’s got all the info you need to get your buzz on here.

Brunch is back at Secco Wine Bar April 30th

Secco Wine Bar is bringing back Sunday brunch to its new location in The Fan April 30th. On Sundays from 10:30 AM until 2:30 PM, diners can enjoy eggs benedict, shrimp and grits, and more from Chef Julie Heins.

“Every person who asked us to bring brunch back asked about the Benny of the Day,” owner Julia Battaglini said in a news release about the return. Along with that Benny, Julia and team are working on a menu of special brunch cocktails along with plenty of sparkling bubbles, Carytown Teas and Lamplighter Coffee to go around.

Easter Brunch guide 2017

Easter Weekend is upon us, and if you’re not trying to stay out of the kitchen (whether you’re literally the worst cook ever, as my fiancé will attest to, or if you just need a break), you’re in luck. Plenty of Richmond restaurants are taking reservations for Easter Dinner on Sunday. But you better book fast. Karri Peifer at the Richmond Times-Dispatch has all the details.

Check out restaurant selections and menus here.

The Luncheonette opens Northside location next Monday

The Luncheonette will soon open its second location, this one in Northside. The new restaurant, which will be at 10 E. Brookland Park Boulevard, formerly housed The Streetcar Café and will serve up a similar menu to the original location in Shockoe Bottom, reports Tammie Smith with the RTD:

“We will have basically the same type of style of food, but we will also do some more natural stuff, more local than our other location. We will also have kind of like good for the soul, good for the body” food, Barzoloski said.

“Some gluten-free items, local foods and we will also have our normal crazy stuff like our S’mores French toast and chicken and waffle egg rolls,” he said.
