All the news that’s fit to eat

Where to get your lamb on around town – This year what they always say (whoever “they” are) came true–March roared in like a lion with cold temperatures and a snowstorm. But if the trends continue, it should go out like a lamb. If you want to go out to get lamb, Genevelyn Steele has some awesome picks of some of the best lamb-based dishes in town over at Richmond Magazine. If you’re asking my favorite (you aren’t), the Pappardelle Lamb Sugo at Nota Bene Restaurant & Bar in Shockoe Bottom is one of my very favorite dishes in Richmond. Check out the full list here.

“Meat church” gets its sanctuary in Scott’s Addition – Scott’s Addition is already a beer lover’s mecca, but worshipers of ZZQ’s delicious, melt-in-your-mouth brisket now have a place to call home–as does the business. ZZQ is going into their second week of service at their new digs right next to their birthplace–Ardent Craft Ales. Here’s a look at all the grilled meats and other treats that await you inside.

The most over-hyped and eye-roll-worthy food trends of 2018 – Instagramming your food (guilty). Pimento cheese (tasty). LaCroix (I don’t get it either). Style Weekly’s restaurant critics have put together their thoughts on the most over-hyped food trends of late in this entertaining column here.

Online food ordering goes local – After a bevy of nationwide apps swooped into Richmond–taking with them a high percentage rate of restaurants’ hard-earned money, one local entrepreneur wants to bring things local again. Entrepreneur Chris Chandler (who himself came from OrderUp) came up with a new business, ChopChop, which will allow businesses more granular control over their promotions and online ordering options. Eileen Mellon, writing for Style Weekly, has a look at the new Richmond born-and-bred app.
