A preview of Flora from three restaurant heavyweights

As Balliceaux wound down its operations last weekend, some well-known Richmond restaurateurs are coming together to breathe new life into the space in the form of an upscale Mexican concept to be known as Flora. Jason Alley of the Comfort and Pasture fame is teaming up with long-time partner Michele Jones as well as Jay Bayer of Saison for the new restaurant, and Style Weekly’s Brandon Fox has an excellent preview of what to expect.

A look at the Jewish Food Festival

The Jewish Food Festival is coming up this weekend at the Weinstein JCC, and Stephanie Ganz, writing for Richmond Magazine, has a look behind the matzo ball at what it takes to put on this delicious cultural and culinary celebration. Did you know planning for the 2017 festival started last February? And some of the cooking began in November! Take a look at what it takes to make latkes, matzo ball soup, stuffed cabbage, and much more. The folks behind this festival put their heart and soul into their cooking, no doubt about it. The festival takes place Sunday and Monday.

Heritage launches late-night dinner service

Things are getting weird at Heritage–in the best of ways. The Fan restaurant and chef Joe Sparatta are getting creative and starting a late-night menu and cocktail program in a laid back atmosphere. Every week from Thursday through Saturday, you’ll find a cool vibe, cocktail specials, a rotating food menu, and a music playlist to match. Stephanie Breijo has all the details including info on the first sandwich of the week offering, which will be created in the style of a famous fast food favorite.
