Steely Dan tribute and Louisiana zydeco close out October at the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen

The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen has two more shows on its fall calendar before the month runs out. Steely Dan tribute band Deputy Dan plays the stage at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, and Buckwheat Zydeco Jr. & The Legendary Ils Sont Partis Band bring zydeco to the Center at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30.

Both shows are at the Center, 2880 Mountain Road in Glen Allen. Tickets are $25 for Deputy Dan and $45 for Buckwheat Zydeco Jr.

Deputy Dan on Center Field

Deputy Dan is returning to the Cultural Arts Center with its tribute to Steely Dan, the band behind “Reelin’ in the Years,” “Do It Again” and the album Aja. The six-piece group is David Lennon, Ron Sada, Gerald Hemphill, Steve Wetzler, John Holmes and Allen Burris. The band focuses on the layered arrangements and jazz-influenced songwriting that Walter Becker and Donald Fagen built Steely Dan around.

Center Field is a general admission lawn, so bring a blanket or a lawn chair. Wine, beer and snacks are sold on site. Pets and outside alcohol aren’t allowed, and children 3 and under get in free.

Buckwheat Zydeco Jr. brings Lafayette to Glen Allen

Buckwheat Zydeco Jr. is a multi-instrumentalist and bandleader from Lafayette, La., who carries on the zydeco tradition of the Buckwheat Zydeco name. He leads the Legendary Ils Sont Partis Band, the name long attached to the original Buckwheat Zydeco group. According to the Center, he has played more than 2,500 shows around the world and shared stages with Eric Clapton, Paul Simon, Willie Nelson and Buddy Guy.

Expect accordion, washboard and a crowd that doesn’t stay seated for long. Seating is general admission, and lawn chairs and blankets are welcome. Wine, beer, snacks and dessert will be for sale, and children 3 and under can attend without a ticket.
