Black Sheep owner moving into old Betty on Davis space – Well, the cat’s out of the bag. The owner of the now-shuttered Black Sheep restaurant is taking over the former Betty on Davis space–but the battleships aren’t coming with him. Kevin Roberts says moving the concept, to him, just wasn’t an option, telling Richmond BizSense, “When I developed Black Sheep, I developed Black Sheep for that location, and moving it to another space wouldn’t feel right.” So what’s in store? Tazza Kitchen now open in Scott’s Addition – Tazza Kitchen in Scott’s Addition opened for dinner last night, Tuesday, December 5th. The newest location of the concept, which serves pizzas, sandwiches, and small plates, is located at 1500 Roseneath Road. The space features 135 seats and has a similar look and feel to other Tazza locations. The company’s flagship location is in Short Pump and it operates another in Chesterfield. Tazza partnered with Surface Architectural Supply and Umanoff Design Lighting in the neighborhood to bring some unique character to its latest restaurant. Check it out here.
Amici Restaurant in Carytown closing December 16th – Amici Restaurant in Carytown is closing its doors later this month after 26 years in business. Owner Carlo Gaione says he’s struggled to keep up with the changing Richmond dining scene, as the number of restaurants in Carytown has increased and the market becomes increasingly saturated. “There are too many restaurants and not enough people,” he told the Richmond Times-Dispatch’s Karri Peifer in a recent interview. Havana ’59 opening West End location Friday – Shockoe Bottom mainstay Havana ’59 will open a second location in the West End at 8902 W. Broad Street in the Gold Gym Plaza shopping center. Expect the same awesome Cuban fare at dinnertime with a brand new lunch menu. And yes, there will be a cigar lounge, of course! Amy David at RVA Magazine has all the details right here.
Rapp Session hosting Christmas popup through year’s end – Rapp Session on W. Grace Street has been transformed into a winter wonderland with decorations and specials to boot. Christmas Session, as the popup is being called, features holiday cocktails, egg nog, hot cider, deviled eggs, oyster stuffing, and more. More here.
