Have you always wanted to get an inside look at the workings of our city government? Well now you can–at least in the Department of Public Works realm–with the upcoming DPU Citizens’ Academy.
The deadline to sign up for this unique opportunity is today, Wednesday, September 27th. Here’s how it all works.
The academy is a four-week program that provides Richmond citizens an inside look at the operations of DPU. Participants will be introduced to the five utilities DPU operates including natural gas, water, wastewater, stormwater, and electric streetlighting. Tours of various DPU facilities and demonstrations of equipment will be conducted. This program will provide citizens an opportunity to ask questions about the department’s operations, too.
It will all take place Tuesday evenings from 5:00 – 7:00 PM beginning October 3rd, and each subsequent Tuesday. Selected participants will be provided more details with regard to meeting locations and content.
Individuals wishing to participate in the City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities Citizens’ Academy must be at least 18 years of age and a resident of the City of Richmond.
Class size will be limited to 20 participants and will be selected on a first-come, first-serve basis. Any applications exceeding the class capacity will be carried over to the next academy. First-time attendees will be given priority.
There is no fee to participate.
