Weekly Food News: Secret Sandwich Society, Fire Flour & Fork, new openings, and a few closures
Fire, Flour & Fork returns this weekend along with Souper Bowl III. Also, news on a bunch of openings, closures, and a look at the newly-opened Secret Sandwich Society downtown.
Fire, Flour & Fork takes place through Sunday
As Richmond’s food and dining scene has been elevated both regionally and nationally over the past few years, one culinary event has risen to the occasion to not only show off all the region has to offer, but to involve the community and foster a deeper understanding of the area’s culinary talent, our roots, and where the industry is going. And it all takes place this weekend. Fire Flour & Fork features a whole host of dinners, dine-around events, culinary tours, tastings, demonstrations, and parties, produced by Real Richmond Food Tours in partnership with Virginia is for Lovers. Tickets are still available for a few events.

The secret is out about Secret Sandwich Society
Richard Hayes had the chance to check out Secret Sandwich Society downtown last Friday, and man did his writeup make me hungry. Expect to find a full selection of  sandwiches (all named after former presidents), wings, burgers, and more. The restaurant joins a whole host of others along the revitalized Grace Street corridor.

Cha-cha-changes at two Forest Hill spots
Kinsfolk in Forest Hill has closed its doors, the RTD reports, citing maintenance issues with its building that would be too costly for the business to repair. Down the road, the recently-opened Laura Lee’s has a new chef. Scott Lewis, formerly of The Roosevelt, has taken the reigns in the kitchen.
