Secret Sandwich Society adding to Grace Street’s restaurant repertoire

The secret will soon be out–Secret Sandwich Society is set to open next month. In addition to handcrafted sandwiches, diners can expect unique and creative burgers, appetizers, and sides, a wide selection of local and craft beer, cider, wine, and spirits when the spot opens on Grace Street. The restaurant joins Pasture, Rappahannock, Julep’s and several other restaurants helping create a “restaurant row” of sorts in the downtown neighborhood.

Richard Hayes has the full scoop here.

Rappahannock Oyster Bar headed to LA

Speaking of Rappahannock, the Croxton brothers are on the move, planning to open a Rappahannock Oyster Bar in Los Angeles, California. The 2,000-square-foot restaurant is a historic property that they felt fits their concept well. The restaurant will be their 14th restaurant overall.

Brandon Fox with Style Weekly has all the details.

Anchor Bar dropping anchor at Stony Point Fashion Park

A Buffalo, New York restaurant that claims to have been the birthplace of buffalo wings is dropping anchor at Stony Point Fashion Park, the RTD reports. Anchor Bar, which has seven other locations, will take over the former Champps restaurant space at the outdoor mall. Though they obviously specialize in wings, the restaurant also serves sandwiches, pizza, wraps, and more.

Karri Peifer has all the sauce-drenched news here.

Craft Kolache serving up Polish delicacy in Church Hill

A tiny storefront in Church Hill is serving up a Polish delicacy that was previously hard to find in town. Texas transplant Heather Horak has opened Craft Kolache, specializing in the small pastries, which hold a dollop of fruit and are rimmed by a puff pastry. She opened her spot on Labor Day and sold out of her stock of pastries in under an hour–clearly there’s plenty of pent-up demand in town.

Nota Bene Restaurant & Bar in Shockoe Bottom has a lot of creative fare on the menu, most of it pizza and pasta centric. One thing that hasn’t been on the menu up until now? Beef.
