The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities (DPU) has announced an upcoming road closure due to an emergency stormwater repair project. Starting on Monday, August 28, 2023, and anticipated to extend until Friday, September 15, 2023, the project aims to address critical stormwater infrastructure issues. The timeline, however, is subject to weather conditions and may be adjusted accordingly.

The affected area is the 500 block of Maple Avenue in Richmond. The emergency stormwater repair project, deemed essential for public safety and the integrity of the city’s infrastructure, necessitates the temporary closure of a segment of Maple Avenue. The stretch between Fergusson Road and Guthrie Avenue will be inaccessible to motorists during the project’s duration.

Motorists are advised to adhere to designated detour routes, which will be clearly marked to ensure smooth traffic flow in the vicinity. The closure will be in effect from Monday through Friday, starting at 8:00 AM and concluding at 5:00 PM each day. This closure schedule will continue until the project’s anticipated completion, weather dependent, on September 15, 2023.
