A donut chain that started on North Carolina’s Outer Banks and later expanded to the Richmond market is shuttering its Short Pump location. Duck Donuts has closed its location at West Broad Village at 2437 Old Brick Road.

“With a heavy heart we announce that we are closed for business beginning today, Jan. 30,” franchise owners posted on Facebook. “We’d like to thank all of our fans for visiting us over the years and making donut topping such a fun, interactive experience. We appreciate your business, excitement and creativity. We invite you to visit our Willow Lawn store to get your same warm, delicious and made to order Duck Donuts.”

The Short Pump outpost opened in January of 2016. As mentioned in the post, Duck Donuts’ original Richmond location at Willow Lawn remains in business.

The donut chain has four locations on the Outer Banks (Corolla, Duck, Kill Devil Hills and Kitty Hawk) and later franchised its first two locations in Virginia Beach and Williamsburg, respectively, before entering the Richmond market.
