All the news that’s fit to eat

Fire, Flour & Fork returns Thursday – Fire, Flour, & Fork, a gathering for the food curious, returns tomorrow through the weekend with a whole host of food talks, demonstrations, chef-led dinners, and more. Many of the popular events are sold out, but many remain, too! Grab your tickets now and find out more about the lineup right here.

Q Barbecue shutters Short Pump location – We were the first to report last week (thanks to a reader tip) that Q Barbecue had closed its Short Pump location at the Corner at Short Pump shopping center. Open since 2013, the restaurant–one of owner Tuffy Stone’s then four area locations–opted not to renew their lease. In my opinion, Stone has some of the best ‘cue in town, and when I lived out there, it was a frequent stop. You can still find his barbecue at his two restaurants in Midlothian and at another in Glen Allen. More here.

Galley To Go opens in old Mandarin Palace spot – Forest Hill residents who already love Galley will be happy to know the restaurant’s new grab-and-go market, Galley To Go, is now open in former Chinese restaurant Mandarin Palace’s space. The market serves up upscale convenience fare and sandwiches to go. Richard scoped it out for us at lunch last week. Check out his photos and recap here.

Cafe Zata opens second location – The folks at Forest Hill favorite Cafe Zata have opened a second spot south of the river, this one at 700 Bainbridge Street in Manchester. The new restaurant features all the great coffee, sandwiches, and pastries as the first, and, coincidentally, is in Blanchard’s Coffee’s old roastery. Funny enough, the restaurant serves Blanchard’s at both locations. Read on here.
