From Henrico Recreation & Parks:

The Henrico County Division of Recreation and Parks received an award from the Virginia Recreation and Park Society at its annual conference, held Nov. 5-8 in Roanoke, VA. This prestigious state-wide awards program honors individuals, agencies and organizations throughout Virginia who have demonstrated excellence in several areas during the previous calendar year.

Alicia Engels, Recreation Coordinator, was recognized with the Outstanding New Professional Award. Alicia has been with our agency in a full-time capacity since fall 2008. She brings passion, proficiency, and fresh ideas to her work with Henrico County and VRPS. Alicia provides exemplary customer service to the public and other county agencies with her skills in facility management as well as program and event development. Alicia has been an active member of VRPS. Alicia formerly served as treasurer and is the current secretary, all while actively seeking networking and partnership opportunities as a member. In 2015, she assisted with the CSA fundraising event “Special Events in the Fast Lane.” Alicia’s dedication and hard work to uphold VRPS goals and standards is a beacon to all recreation professionals.
