Acclaimed NYC chef to open Downtown restaurant
Richmond Magazine’s Stephanie Breijo has the scoop on a New York restauranteur bringing a taste of the Big Apple to RVA. Chef Robert Newton is opening a concept inside the Central National Bank Building downtown:
The Nightingale Nine, Wilma Jean and Smith Canteen chef has been busy with Black Walnut, his new Brooklyn restaurant opening this winter, but today he took a moment to share his next venture via Instagram. “So exciting. Can’t wait to build this thing. I come in peace Richmond,” wrote Newton, who is not currently taking press queries on the project.

Name announced for new Chinese concept
The Blue Goat, EAT Restaurant Partners’ concept in the Libbie and Grove Area, will undergo some major changes come 2017. The restaurant is shutting down to become an Asian concept featuring fresh, modern fare, and now we know the name of that spot–Beijing on Grove. The building was the home of similarly-named The Peking On Grove from 1977 until 2009 when The Blue Goat opened.
From the original news release:
This Asian concept will be a fresh, modern and upbeat version of its original antecedent, The Peking On Grove. Westhampton and its surrounding neighborhoods will once have access to authentic and delicious Chinese food while still enjoying the high energy and chic bar scene that we have all come to love about the Blue Goat. You can also still expect the same stellar service and attention to detail that you have come to rely on during your visits to The Blue Goat.
