The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is hosting a job fair and agency showcase on Wednesday, January 21st, 2026, at its Richmond headquarters, offering job seekers a chance to meet directly with hiring managers from across the agency.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the DMV headquarters at 2300 West Broad Street. According to the agency, representatives from more than a dozen departments will be on site, including customer service, information technology, and law enforcement. DMV says both full- and part-time roles are available, with positions based at its Richmond offices and at 76 customer service centers statewide.

DMV officials are framing the job fair as an opportunity to highlight the agency’s broader scope beyond driver’s licenses and vehicle registrations. In recent years, the agency has expanded its digital services and highway safety programs, including the rollout of Virginia Mobile ID. Those initiatives have been promoted by the agency as part of an effort to modernize how Virginians interact with state government.

“We’re not just filling jobs—we’re building career pathways,” DMV Commissioner Gerald Lackey said in a prepared statement, pointing to internal advancement opportunities and leadership development.

As with many state agencies, DMV recruitment comes amid ongoing challenges in public-sector hiring, including competition with private employers and the limits of state pay scales. While the agency highlights benefits such as work-life balance and professional development, specific salary ranges, telework options, and advancement timelines vary by role and are detailed in individual job postings.

Job listings are posted on the Virginia Jobs website, which includes information on qualifications, responsibilities, and benefits for each position. DMV also maintains a careers section on its website with general information about working for the agency.

The job fair is open to the public, and attendees are encouraged to come prepared to speak with hiring teams about current openings and application requirements.
