Clear the Shelters Week at Richmond SPCA will waive all adoption fees through August 24th
Adoptions are free August 18–24 thanks to the generosity of the Betty J. Parmer Trust.
The Richmond SPCA will waive all adoption fees for one week, August 18–24, as part of the nationwide Clear The Shelters campaign. The lifesaving effort is made possible through sponsorship by the Betty J. Parmer Trust, honoring the late Ms. Parmer’s lifelong love of animals and the joy she found in her pets, especially her dog Max.
Trustee Michele Davis said the sponsorship is intended to help more families experience the companionship rescued animals can bring. Davis shared that the Richmond SPCA also has special meaning to her own family, noting that her daughter’s dog, Boomer, adopted from the shelter, will turn 12 next year.
The Clear The Shelters campaign, organized each August by NBCUniversal Local, has helped nearly 1.2 million pets find homes since its launch in 2015.
