The news broke yesterday on various sources that Richmond’s first ever food hall will no longer be serving food after March 31st.

RTD has this to say including this interesting tidbit from one of the vendors.

Food stall operators said that they found out on Tuesday and were still processing the news.

“I’m sad. It came as a surprise,” Liz Clifford, co-owner of Fat Kid Sandwiches said. “We’ve been here since the beginning. We’ve had other plans in motion. So we’ll be putting those plans on warp speed.”

Other vendors at Hatch Local Food Hall looked visibly upset by the news and declined to comment.

Karri Peifer over at Axios chimed in this morning with this article.

Richmond BizSense has an article as well.

The food hall’s space will be repurposed for use by Hatch Kitchen, a local food incubator that co-owned and operated the food hall with local real estate development firm Lynx Ventures. Their exact plans for the space have yet to be announced.

Hatch Local Food Hall posted this on Instagram this morning.
