A small, private plane crashed in a field outside of Highland Springs High School early Wednesday afternoon after clipping power lines, Virginia State Police and Henrico County Public Schools reported.

There were no injuries reported after the plane came down, but thousands are reportedly without power after the utility lines were breached during the crash landing.

Police tell us students are being held inside the building while emergency crews respond to the situation. There is no word on a cause at this time.

We’ll continue to follow the story as more details emerge.
