From Henrico Police:

On February 8, 2018 at approximately 6:50 p.m., a Henrico Police officer attempted to stop a Honda Accord on Hungary Road west of Staples Mill Road for a traffic violation.  The vehicle failed to stop and accelerated westbound on Hungary Road where it struck a Hyundai SUV that was attempting to turn left onto eastbound Hungary Road from southbound N. Lakefront Drive.  After the impact, the Honda ran off the roadway to the left, went through a fence and struck an unoccupied vehicle parked in a driveway.

The driver of the Honda then fled the scene on foot.  He was located in the area and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Hyundai was also transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  Two occupants in the Honda were pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased has been identified as Debra Renee Eckhart, a 25-year-old female and Rena Chhay, a 27-year-old male, both of Henrico.

The crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed.
