From the VHS:

Have you ever looked at a Civil War photograph and wondered, who took this? Where was it taken? When? Why? Since the Library of Congress and other institutions digitized their collections, these questions can be answered while creating many others.

As featured on Community Idea Stations’ Science Matters—join us on Thursday, September 1, at 5:30 p.m. for a class entitled, “How to be Civil War Photo Geek: Photo Forensics in Richmond, 1861-1865,” by Michael D. Gorman. This two-part class will examine what can be done with Civil War photographs, what they can teach us, and how you can do it yourself. This class emphasizes photography around Richmond, but the principles can be applied to any Civil War photographs. The second part of the class takes place on Thursday, September 8, at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are $50/VHS members and $65/nonmembers.

Class participants should enter the VHS using the Carole and Marcus Weinstein Learning Center.

Purchase tickets online here.
