Well-known Blacksburg-based pizza chain taking a slice of the Fan with new location in former Continental Divide space
The growing pizza chain, which started at Virginia Tech, is bringing their big-as-your-face slices of pizza to a recently shuttered restaurant space.
If you went to Virginia Tech, or visited friends there as I did back in college, you’re no doubt familiar with Benny Marzano’s, the (at least for my friends and I) late night pizza joint that serves up slices as big as your face. Well, the expanding chain is finally coming to Richmond, taking over the recently-closed Continental Divide space, BizSense reports.
From Richmond BizSense:
A Blacksburg-based pizzeria’s years-long search for a slice of the Richmond market is finally coming to fruition.
Benny’s, a chain of pizza joints founded by 2006 Virginia Tech grads Chris Brown and Zach Toth, is planning to open a new restaurant dubbed Benny Affamato’s in the recently vacated Continental Divide space at 2501 W. Main St. in the Fan.
The restaurant is targeting a winter or spring 2019 opening. It will be the 7-year-old brand’s 20th location, joining outposts across Virginia, the Carolinas, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
