A well known downtown restaurant is flipping the script and changing its entire business model–all to help feed Richmond’s hungry. Jason Alley and Michele Jones, co-owners of southern comfort food-style restaurant Pasture in Richmond’s Arts District, announced their intention yesterday to donate 100% of net profits toward the goal of ending food insecurity beginning March 1st.

The change is permanent and will build on the pair’s long-standing commitment to the community over the years, which has included coat and school supply drives among other initiatives.

“After being an active part of the Richmond Community for the last 15 years, we have decided that now it is time that we give back in a more permanent and meaningful way,” Alley said on his Instagram account Monday. “We asked ourselves what more could we do to help, and realized this was the next step.”

The new format will maintain the restaurant’s existing menu, service, and all other aspects guests have come to know, but will also focus around planning more upcoming events to support FeedMore–the area’s main hunger relief organization–and other related programs.

The change takes place this Thursday, March 1st.
