Shockoe Bottom establishment Nota Bene Restaurant & Bar showcased some of their new fall cocktails Thursday evening. The drinks, prepared by Bar Manager Caroline Ciulla, ran the gamut and featured heartier flavors in anticipation of the cooler weather to come.

Here’s a recipe for one of the restaurant’s new featured cocktails to try for yourself this weekend–one of the best sellers on the menu. It’s called “The Postman Always Brings Ice.”

  • 1.5oz Rye Whiskey
  • .75oz Amontillado Sherry
  • .75oz simple syrup
  • .5oz lemon juice
  • 3-4 slices apple
  • 1-2 thin slices ginger

Muddle apple, ginger, simple syrup, and lemon. Then add the booze, shake with ice and strain through a mesh strainer into your favorite rocks glass.

Enjoy on the rocks or atop crushed ice with grated cinnamon and a splash pomegranate juice.
