City of Richmond hosting two open houses to solicit feedback on Scott’s Addition zoning changes
City planning staff will be on hand to discuss proposed changes to the city’s zoning ordinances in the Scott’s Addition area this week; the feedback will be taken into consideration and a more detailed meeting will take place next week.
As the burgeoning Scott’s Addition neighborhood grows and changes, so too must the city’s zoning ordinances, according to City of Richmond planning staff. Following a series of meetings with neighborhood associations including, principally, the Scott’s Addition Boulevard Association, city leaders will host a series of open houses to solicit feedback from the general public on plans to modify zoning ordinances and even create new designations.
In short, the plans, as proposed, would allow for taller structures along N. Boulevard and W. Broad Street and would create a more seamless rezoning process. Currently, many plans of development require a special use permit depending on the proposed use of the land or building, as much of the neighborhood is still designated as light industrial–a once predominant use that is slowly fading away in favor of residential, commercial, and retail uses.
