Inaugural TEDxRVASalon event takes place January 23rd
If you’re concerned about what’s on your plate and where it came from, this new small format TEDx event is for you.
A new small-format TEDx gathering will take place January 23rd, organizers announced this week. The event will encourage attendees to think about how and what they eat, how it gets to their tables, and more.
It’s all centered around food and it takes place at Kitchen Thyme at 7801 W. Broad Street.
From the organizers:
For our inaugural TEDxRVASalon event our theme is Updating the Menu, so we’ll be presenting views on the current state of the general American diet, how we think about the food we eat, and how it gets to our tables. We will be screening three TED talks, and discussion facilitators from the local food scene will be present to lend their knowledge and also to listen to the thoughts and ideas of local residents. Together, we will explore these topics as they relate directly to the Richmond community. Carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores alike are welcome.
Participants can expect to watch a few TED or TEDx talks related to the theme of the evening, and discuss the topic in small groups of 6 to 8 attendees. We will often have guest speakers and field experts in attendance, and encourage Q&A and open conversation amongst attendees. At the end of the event, there will also be an opportunity to submit your ideas for what topics we should discuss at future TEDxRVASalons!
Melissa Krumbein, Owner of Kitchen Thyme, will be our host for the evening. Help us make these small-format gatherings a success by coming out to our first event, asking questions, and giving suggestions. We want your feedback!
