Peter Chang is set to open his third Richmond area restaurant today. The well-known Szechuan chef will open Noodles and Dumplings by Peter Chang in a space adjacent to his existing Short Pump restaurant at 11408 W. Broad Street. The location is Chang’s ninth overall restaurant.
The new concept will feature steamed and fried dumplings along with noodle dishes and Chinese teppanyaki.
Well known for his unique and flavorful regional Chinese cuisine, Chang, a James Beard Award-nominated chef, has somewhat of a cult following. A graduate of the Sichuan Higher Institute of Cuisine, Chang received the title of Master Chef and graduated first in his class before coming to the United States, where he was the chef for the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C.
He later opened restaurants around Virginia in Short Pump, Williamsburg, Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, and Arlington. His Short Pump restaurant was named among a list of the ‘50 Best New Restaurants in America’ by Bon Appetit Magazine in 2012.
