Three Things to Kick About

  1. Hope – Last week I went off into the forest of despair. Terzaghi lit a torch with a last-minute goal. Now I have two things to hope for, 1) we make the playoffs and 2) Terzaghi wins the Golden Boot which he currently holds the lead.
  2. Three – Only 3, three, tres, trois, trzy, kolme, drei, games left. You need to be at City Stadium for these games. Playoffs are on the line. Chances are we won’t finish high enough to get a playoff game so these games will be your only chances to see Kickers.
  3. NWSL – Not directly or Kickers related but should be discussed by lovers of soccer. Former players have accused North Carolina Courage head coach Paul Riley of sexual coercion spanning multiple teams and leagues since 2010 in a story by The Athletic’s Meg Linehan (Summary HERE). Eleven years for this kind of behaviour to talk place inexcusable and needs to be addressed.

Prediction

The positive is that the Kickers won last week. The negative is that it took a last-minute scramble in front of the goal against a weak opponent. This week the juggernaut that is Chattanooga is in town. Side note it’s impossible to take anything from Chattanooga seriously, that name is just goofy. The Red Wolves are coming off a loss and 7 out of their 10 wins have been at home so they’ve shown some weakness on the road. The Kickers have yet to put two wins in a row this year and I don’t think it’s going to happen on Saturday. I do think the Kickers can eek out a draw and be relatively happy even though it doesn’t do their playoff chances much good.

Kickers 1 – Chattanooga 1
