Local entrepreneur launches face mask subscription service
Olivian is working to expand their manufacturing in United States, with manufacturing here in Richmond, already creating 50 new jobs.
The owner of well-known local startup Tablee has started a second venture out of concern for the community amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Founded by Wendy Scelia in March, Olivian manufactures and sells protective face masks. Already the founder of a growing startup, Wendy wasn’t intending to start another company, but when a nurse in her family asked for help procuring face masks for her hospital at the onset of the pandemic, Wendy wanted to help. Our collective community need for masks has not abated, so Wendy started Olivian to grow the ability to help.
Last week, Olivian launched a subscription service, allowing families and small businesses alike to receive monthly deliveries of either 50 or 500 face masks. This offers some peace of mind in the desire to be safe and stocked up. Olivian’s masks meet ASTM Level 1 requirements and feature a high-density filter, which provides greater filtration than most cloth masks, particularly useful to at-risk populations.
Olivian is working to expand its manufacturing in the United States, with some of their manufacturing soon taking place here in Richmond, already creating 50 new jobs.
