To attend a training session, contact Leslie Velez at 804-652-3813 or email [email protected].
The process of becoming a Henrico HEROES mentor is easy. Mentors complete an application, undergo a background check, and attend a two-hour training session. Mentors meet with their student once a week for 30-45 minutes from October to May and participate in a program-wide kickoff and end-of-year celebration.

Studies show that mentoring pays big dividends for students. It improves students’ attendance and academic motivation, and students with a mentor are more likely to enroll in college, to volunteer and to be involved in sports and other extracurricular activities.
