Let there be light of knowledge at Science After Dark

In addition to all the regular science there will be the 80’s classic “The Karate Kid” showing. No word on if they’ll teach you to catch flies with chopsticks.

Some of the best things in life occur after dark. In this particular case, it’s science. Tonight the Science Museum of Virginia is staying open late for Science After Dark. The entire museum will be open for exploration.  If your house got a new telescope for Christmas bring it along and meet on the front lawn to get tips from the Richmond Astronomical Society. Admission is $10.

We’re continuing the monthly #RVA Friday night fun with Science After Dark in 2018!

In addition to the whole Museum being open for guests to enjoy, this special discounted evening event includes crafts, activities AND science demonstrations.

Head to The Dome for an all-live Cosmic Expeditions planetarium show at 6:30 p.m. or 7:15 p.m. Then stick around for a special showing of the 1984 martial arts classic “The Karate Kid” (PG) at 8 p.m.

Weather permitting, the Richmond Astronomical Society will be on the front lawn with telescopes letting guests stargaze after the sun goes down.

Admission to Science After Dark is $10, which includes Museum exhibits and one Dome Feature (either a Cosmic Expedition or “The Karate Kid”). Additional Dome features are $5. Museum members enjoy free exhibit admission and a free Cosmic Expedition. Members can add the feature film to their visit for $5 or can use a Dome pass. Tickets must be purchased at the door.

Food and drinks, including craft beer, are available for purchase during Science After Dark in the Periodic Table Café.
