Brewer’s Cafe at 1125 Bainbridge Street has been an incredible addition to the Manchester neighborhood. Not only has owner Ajay Brewer provided great food and drinks to the community but he has given back with regular events. It’s rare to see a business that truly works to support the neighborhood and not simply profit from its residents.

Over the weekend the RTD posted a profile of Ajay Brewer and you should definitely give it read. Perhaps while grabbing a drink or lunch over in Manchester. If you head over there keep an eye out for the ultimate Brewer’s Cafe spokesman, Ajay’s three-year-old son Parker. Parker will put a smile on anyone’s face.

“This is where I lived, and I also grew up around here,” Brewer said Saturday, taking time away from Small Business Saturday for an interview in his shop. “A lot of what makes sense to me is creating and building my own community.

“I want to be able to create something and let my legacy stand there.”

Brewer grew up in Richmond’s Randolph neighborhood, attending both private and public school and spending many days at his church a few blocks from where his business now is in Manchester.
