As protests loom, Richmond Police enacting temporary parking restrictions next weekend
The parking restrictions will go into place starting Friday at 5 PM and last until Saturday at 11 PM.
There is the possibility of a rally at or near the Robert E. Lee Memorial on the 16th. If this event, billed as a “Heritage Not Hate” protest, takes place, there will likely be counter protests. The state-level Department of General Services, which maintains the Lee statue and owns the land on which it sits, denied protesters a permit for the event, yet police still fear protesters will be undeterred and show up anyway.
To have as many cars out of the way as possible, the Richmond Police will implement the following parking restrictions.
From Friday, September 15th at 5:00 PM until Saturday, September 16th 11:00 PM, parking restrictions will be in place on the following streets in The Fan:
- 1600 block of Monument Avenue between N. Lombardy & N. Allen Avenue
- 1800 block of Monument Avenue between N. Allen & N. Meadow Street
- 400 block of N. Allen Avenue between Monument Avenue & W. Grace Street
- 500 block of N. Allen Avenue between Monument Avenue & Park Avenue
- 1600 block of W. Grace Street (westbound only) between N. Allen Avenue & N. Lombardy Street
