The Jerk Pit closed back in late April but the prime Broad Street site won’t stay empty for long. Joe Kiatsuranon of nearby Sabai (also My Noodle and Ya-Ya’s Cookbook) has purchased the property according to Richmond Magazine.

Go to Sabai on a typical weekend and you’ll often find it filled. So it’s not surprising that thoughts of expansion were in Joe’s head. It doesn’t sound like it will be Sabai II and details are light, but Richmond Magazine did get the following insight on what’s being planned for the former Jamaican spot.

“We will make soups from all over Southeast Asia, plus different [styles of] fried rice, yakitori and satay,” says Kiatsuranon. “Also, a beer garden.”
