Message from Councilwoman Kristen Larson and owners of Stony Point Shopping Center on incoming tenants

Rumors have circulated about a Goodwill going into the old Martin’s space. Those rumors are inaccurate according to owners of the property.

From Councilwoman Kristen Larson:

4th District Residents: There has been a lot of information and rumors swirling about new tenants at the Stony Point Shopping Center at Huguenot and Stony Point Roads. I have been in contact with the property managers and they have communicated the following to me (see below in quotes). They would like residents to fill out an electronic survey about the shopping center – the link is below. Additionally, I am meeting with them in the coming weeks and will continue to keep residents abreast of any additional information regarding the shopping center.

“I wanted to let you know that we are working diligently to find a replacement tenant or tenants for the space in the Stony Point Shopping Center vacated by Martin’s Food Market. We strongly believe in being a responsible community partner during this process which is why we are soliciting feedback from our various stakeholders including local residents and existing tenants… We are also sending out a direct-mail piece with a link to this survey which should be arriving over the next week.

As you know, the entry of Publix Super Markets into the Richmond market has caused a great deal of disruption in the local grocery industry. Whereas we cannot guarantee who the next tenant or tenants for the vacant space might be, citizen participation in this survey will help us in our marketing efforts to prospective companies.

I would also like to take this opportunity to mention that there is currently no agreement between Goodwill Industries of Central Virginia and our leasing team at Stony Point. Recent news reports regarding an agreement are inaccurate.”

Fill out this survey to give the owners of the property a better idea of what you’d like to see in that space.
