Bon Air residents voice ill will against Goodwill moving into the old Martin’s spot

Some Bon Air residents feel that a grocer needs to fill that empty space.

Residents in Bon Air are speaking up after finding out the possibility of a Goodwill moving into the Stony Point Shopping Center. The space has been vacant since the Martin’s closed its doors. As of this afternoon there were over 480 signatures.

From the Change.Org Petition:

It appears that the landlord of Stony Point Shopping Center (3036 Stony Point Rd, Richmond, VA 23235) is looking to replace the former Martins Grocery Store space with a Goodwill Depot. The Bon Air community needs to consider the importance of maintaining the integrity of our neighborhood ambiance.  Over the last few years, many residents have seen the slow decline of shopping/retail at the Midlothian end of Buford Road. PLEASE, let’s not allow the same thing to happen at the Hugenot Road end.  What we really need is to encourage merchants that will enhance not only Bon Air but keep our village a highly desirable neighborhood for new families to choose to reside.  What Bon Air really needs a full service grocery store in that space. Not only would it bring back convenience of a neighborhood grocery store.  (Who remembers Safeway and Lukhard’s Market?)

How can you help?  Please consider signing this petition asking that they NOT lease to Goodwill Industries.  You may also consider writing or contacting the managing broker at:
