Wednesday, 3/8: United Way and BB&T’s Mobile Bus Brings Free Income Tax Preparation to the Northside

What: The BB&T Bank Bus is bringing financial resources to the community’s doorstep with free income tax preparation services to households making $54,000 or less provided by the United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg.

When: March 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: Lincoln Mews Apartments, 4101 North Avenue, Richmond, VA 23222

Who:

  • Katina Williams, Director of Community Impact: Income, United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg
  • Cara Cardotti, THRIVE Collaborative Manager, United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg

Additional Details: The mobile bus event is part of United Way’s metroCASH program that provides IRS-certified volunteer tax preparers to guide individuals through the process of electronically filing federal and state returns. The program promotes financial independence and utilizes the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), a benefit for working people with low- and moderate-incomes. Last year the organization helped more than 3,200 households prepare their taxes for free, returning about $3 million to the local economy.

Anyone interested in having their taxes prepared by one of the certified volunteers will need to bring all tax related documents, a photo ID and Social Security cards for all family members including children to be included on the income tax return.
