Richmond Animal League hosts “Rescue Roundup” to help Virginia pets find homes Friday
Bringing together animal control agencies from across Virginia, Rescue Roundup offers a unique opportunity for families to meet adoptable dogs and cats from multiple organizations, all in one place. Each pet is looking for the same thing: a safe, loving home and a fresh start.
Richmond Animal League (RAL) is inviting the community to be part of a lifesaving effort for pets across the region with its upcoming Rescue Roundup adoption event on Friday, May 15, from 3pm-6pm at RAL’s campus located at 11401 International Dr, Richmond, VA 23236.
Bringing together animal control agencies from across Virginia, Rescue Roundup offers a unique opportunity for families to meet adoptable dogs and cats from multiple organizations, all in one place. Each pet is looking for the same thing: a safe, loving home and a fresh start.
To prepare for the event and expand its ability to help even more animals, RAL will offer fee-waived adoptions from May 12 through May 15. This initiative is designed to create space within the shelter ahead of Rescue Roundup, allowing RAL to take in pets from partner shelters who may not be adopted during the event.
“Rescue Roundup is about collaboration and showing what’s possible when shelters come together,” says Lindsey Covington, Senior Manager of Canine Lifesaving. “We work with partners all across Virginia every day, and this event is really a chance for the community to see that in action and be a part of it.”
Attendees of Rescue Roundup can expect:
- Adoptable dogs and cats from RAL and partnering shelters
- On-site adoption counselors available to help match pets with the right families
- Information about fostering and volunteer opportunities for those who want to stay involved
Participating organizations currently include Hanover County Animal Control, Regional Animal Shelter (King William), New Kent Animal Control, Sussex Animal Control, Charles City Animal Control, Cumberland County Animal Control, Buckingham County Animal Shelter, Hopewell Animal Services, Nottoway County Animal Shelter, Dinwiddie County Animal Control, and Petersburg Animal Care & Control. Additional partners may join leading up to the event.
Whether you are ready to adopt, interested in fostering, or simply want to show up for the animals, Rescue Roundup is a chance to be part of something bigger than one shelter, one county, or one day.
