Hot Take RVA puts matchmaking in the hands of your best friend
Participants pitch their single pals in a playful presentation format at The Hof, followed by a rooftop afterparty.
Hot Take RVA, a new dating concept launching in Richmond, is inviting locals to take a fresh approach to matchmaking, with a little help from their friends. The debut event takes place at The Hof, followed by a rooftop afterparty, and encourages participants to present short slide decks on behalf of their single best friends.
Here’s the twist: it’s not self-promotion. Instead, friends become the hype team, preparing a five-minute presentation (with the single friend’s approval) that highlights what makes them a great partner and what they’re looking for in a match. The goal is to create a supportive, fun, and authentic dating environment that blends creativity, community, and connection.
The event was created by Rebecca Phillips, who founded Hot Take RVA with the goal of celebrating people’s unique qualities while removing the pressure from traditional dating formats.
“Hot Take RVA is all about uplifting our friends and helping them find love in a lighthearted manner,” Phillips said.
The launch event is being held in collaboration with Virginia Pride in celebration of Pride Month, adding to the inclusive and celebratory tone. Attendees can expect an energetic, welcoming space filled with laughter, encouragement, and potential connections.
Tickets go live Saturday, and those interested in presenting on behalf of a single friend can sign up through the Hot Take RVA website here. Presenter slots are limited.
Hot Take RVA is open to ages 21 and up.
