Local Restauranteur Builds Memorial for Fallen Soldier
There will be a ceremony to unveil this special wall and tribute at Brickwood on Dec. 7th.
Hayden Fischer opened Brickwood Barbecue in Richmond in June and his intent for it is to be more than just a restaurant serving good food.
Fischer is a Virginia Military Institute graduate and has come together with a fellow grad, Rick Franco to honor a classmate who died in service abroad. Greg Wright Jr. is regarded as a hero as he gave his life to help save others’ lives in his first assignment in the Middle East.
Hayden and Franco are installing a memorial wall in the restaurant as a tribute to Wright. A few very special mementoes will be part of it including Greg’s CIA medal, his VMI sword, VMI signage and other items. The community will be invited and welcomed to contribute their own memorabilia of their family and friends who they wish to remember and pay tribute to.
