Richmond Animal League is creating a permanent tribute to one of its biggest community supporters, longtime WTVR-FM (Mix 98.1 and formerly Lite 98) mid-day radio host Kat Simons. Simons, who passed away last Friday, was a servant supporter of many local causes, but shelter pets were near and dear to her heart.

“Kat Simons did so much to support Richmond Animal League and rescue groups throughout the community,” the organization wrote on Facebook. “Words cannot express our gratitude for all Kat has done nor the feelings of losing such an incredible friend. In the coming weeks, we will add “Kat’s Corner” to our shelter lobby, dedicated to the memory of Kat Simons, where love and compassion for our furry friends live on.”

“Kat’s Corner” will house cats available for adoption, continuing Kat’s legacy of love and compassion for kitties in need. Each time you visit, you’ll see a special plaque dedicated to Kat, a small token of our immense gratitude for everything she did for Richmond Animal League and rescue pets.”

RAL says work will begin soon on the project.
