Reserve Your McDonough Community Garden Plot
It might not seem like it with the recent snow but spring is just around the corner and gardens will be ready to get started.
McDonough Community Garden is 8500 square feet of greenspace located in a USDA denoted food desert, 33rd and Forest Hill Ave, 2 blocks from Crossroads Coffee. They’re currently taking reservations for garden plots. Perfect for those gardeners that don’t have space or want to contribute to the community.
Duron Chavis posted on the Forest Hill Neighborhood Facebook Group the plans for the upcoming year.
Plots are 25$ a year. Founded in 2012, Mcdonough Community Garden has active compost bins, water access, permeable pathways for accessibility purposes and storm water management, a pergola shade structure with benches and tables, over 20 fruit trees of assorted varieties and a fire pit.
This year we are upgrading the space and adding a shed that only garden members will have key code access too for storage of tools and biological soil amendments.
