South of the James Farmers Market to Stay North of the James for Rest of Season
They state that there is discussion of a smaller market on Sunday, August 30th in Forest Hill Park.
South of the James Farmers Market made the announcement on Facebook that they’ll be staying in Bryan Park for the rest of the summer. One interesting item from the statement is that they “have requested a non compete”. If I’m interpreting that correctly they’re keeping the market in Bryan Park for the summer and requesting that no other market moves into Forest Hill Park.
I hope everyone is staying healthy and cool!
After multiple and lengthy discussions with the Richmond Police Department, Parks and Recreation, RMC Events, vendors and internal staff, we have come to the decision, per COVID, social distancing practices and all the unknowns we as a community are still facing, to complete our summer season in Bryan Park.
We truly appreciate the Forest Hill community’s support and petition, have requested a non compete, and thank those who are crossing the river to support our farmers, artists, culinary artists and their families during this difficult time.
Please note, this change was and has been, extremely difficult on our business, both emotionally and financially. But, RVA is going through all kinds of changes.
We have discussed hosting a SOJ Sunday Brunch Market in Forest Hill Park on August 30. It would include vendors who would like to participate, food options etc. from 11am -2pm. We would not be charging our participants.
Moving forward, we would like to work directly with the Friends of Forest Hill Park.
Enjoy today!
