Neighbors in Woodland Heights Organizing Slow Down on Semmes Rally

Residents aren’t asking for much, just that drivers follow the speed limit.

Anyone that travels on Semmes on a regular basis knows that the speed limit doesn’t play a major factor in how fast cars fly down the road to and from downtown. Semmes also happens to be surrounded on both sides by houses, a school, restaurants, and a park. These are locations that people of all ages like to have access to without risking live and limb. To try and get drivers to slow down neighbors are taking action and will attempt to educate drivers heading to work on Tuesday.

From the Facebook Event:

Hi Woodland Heights RVA Neighborhood, please join us on Tuesday May 7th from 7:30 to 9 am as we assemble up and down Semmes Ave to bring awareness to speeders. We want to remind drivers that this is a family community and that they should follow the speed limits. Please bring signs to show your concern for safety on Semmes. We ask that you find any location on Semmes Ave so that drivers realize the entire community presence. A larger group will be assembling at Patrick Henry. Everyone is welcome to attend!

Don’t forget that Bike Walk RVA is working every day to make all of Richmond more bikeable and walkable.
