Second Street Festival in Jackson Ward – The Streets of Jackson Ward will come alive Saturday and Sunday for the 2nd Street Festival. Since 1988, the festival has become one of the Mid-Atlantic’s largest street festivals. Nearly 50,000 people visit historic Jackson Ward to reminisce about the days when 2nd Street was the heart and soul of Richmond’s African American community. Enjoy live jazz, R&B, fashion shows, gospel music, and a children’s area, plus performances by community groups on four stages. There will also be a marketplace, food trucks and vendors, and more. Check out our event guide for more.

State Fair of Virginia at Meadow Event Park – The State Fair of Virginia continues at The Meadow Event Park this weekend. A rite of passage of fall, it’s one of Central Virginia’s most popular events. The fair runs through Sunday, October 7th and opens at 10:00 AM each day. The midway opens an hour later at 11:00 AM. Enjoy a wide variety of midway rides, any kind of crazy fried foods you can think of, live music at the fair’s concert series, and much more. Advance tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for kids ages 5 – 12 and seniors 60 and older. Learn more here.
