Have you been to Little Nickel yet? I go for the food but it already has a stellar reputation for cocktails. If you time your arrival poorly you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy a cocktail or two while you wait for a table to open. Little Nickel is a wonderfully unique and tasty addition to our neighborhood.
Erica Curran of RTD (who I don’t think crosses the river much) has a review of the bar scene at Little Nickel.
The crowd-pleasing Saturn is one of only two cocktails that are sticking around — the fruity, slightly nutty drink combines gin, passion fruit, and housemade orgeat and falernum syrups. The already-legendary punch bowl, available for two or four people, is also staying — it’s got brandy, Jamaican rum, curacao, yellow chartreuse, maraschino, white wine, and lemon juice. It’s served up in a vintage bowl from Little Nickel’s impressive collection.
As for the new stuff, Pere says she and GM Liz Roberts have “worked hard on not just making the cocktails tiki, but just very original, very Little Nickel. … We just want to make great drinks and create a whole atmosphere that keeps guests craving for a getaway.”
