First, a message from Councilman Parker Agelasto on the damage suffered to the park:

Forest Hill Park experienced severe damage from Reedy Creek raging with stormwater last night. Park crews have cleared the dam since more flash flooding is expected later today. A 200 foot section of road was washed away below the dam. It is blocked off for safety and DPU will be addressing since it’s exposed one of their lines. Once the area is secured and safe Parks will be asking for volunteer help to help pick up litter, sticks/logs, and clear benches.

Now the details on what you can do to help clean-up the park from RVA Clean Sweep:

Sunday 4-6 PM

As many of you know Forest Hill Park was hit with major flooding on Thursday & Friday night and there was a lot of damage and debris is everywhere so let’s go and help start cleaning it up. We’ll meet at parking lot on New Kent Ave where the Farmers Market is held. Please wear sturdy shoes and there will be a lot of mud and debris and if you have a good pair of work gloves please bring those as well. I’ll have pickers and trash bags and a cooler of water but please bring a refillable bottle with you.
