The corner of N. Boulevard and Robin Hood Road will be your one stop shop this Saturday for getting your house in order and offloading old stuff as we begin a new year.

The City of Richmond will provide Christmas tree chipping, electronics recycling, and document shredding this Saturday, January 6th from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Proof of residency is required.

Christmas tree chipping is available only for undecorated, live trees, obviously. You can shred up to five boxes or five paper bags of personal documents including taxes, bank statements, financial accounts, medical records, and insurance documents. Commercial business documents, x-rays, cardboard, plastic bags, metal, batteries, CDs, notebooks, binders or pages of previously shredded papers are not accepted.

Computer systems, computer accessories, printers, scanners, copiers and fax machines, VCRs, camcorders, stereos, Christmas tree light strands, and all kinds of phones can be recycled at the electronics recycling station.

The fee for recycling old TVs is $23 for those up to 27″; $30 for old TVs more than 27″; $12 for LCD TVs.
