In a perfect world, every corner would be dotted with ice cream shops and taco stands. We will be one step closer to that utopia this spring when Scoop opens up in the Fan. Judging by the pictures it will be a very tasty and downright cute utopia.

Get ready for ice cream in the fan! Morgan Botwinick, owner of the Shockoe Bottom bakery Whisk, is opening a take-out ice cream shop in the former Video Fan space (403 Strawberry St, Richmond, VA 23220) in the spring of 2018!

“I’m excited and thankful for the opportunity to continue the tradition that Video Fan started, and to bring a new small, local business into the neighborhood,” says Botwinick. “We know we have some big shoes to fill, but I think it will be the perfect addition to an already bustling area of the Fan, and I hope the neighborhood feels the same way.”

Scoop will offer ice cream by the scoop, customizable ice cream sandwiches, seasonal sundaes, and pints to-go in a variety of signature ice cream flavors (available year round) plus a rotating menu of seasonal flavors, including Sweet Potato Marshmallow in the fall and Sweet Corn & Blackberry in the summer. Everything will be made in-house, including all ice cream, waffle cones, sauces, and cookies. A few Whisk favorites will take on new life as menu items at Scoop, and the menu will also include gluten-free and dairy-free options.

Scoop is projected to open in early spring of 2018. The look and feel will be similar to Whisk–modern and bright with exposed brick balanced with some special whimsical touches. Elliot Warsof of S.L. Nusbaum brokered the deal.
