Richmond Health District offering free flu shots at two events in South Richmond October 6th
Free flu vaccinations will be offered to the public at the Walmart located at 2210 Sheila Lane, off Forest Hill Avenue, and also at the Big Apple Supermarket located at 2916 Jefferson Davis Highway.
Flu season is just about upon us, and the Richmond City Health District wants citizens to get vaccinated early. So much so, in fact, that they’re bringing the shots to the people.
Free flu vaccinations will be offered to the public on Friday, October 6th from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Walmart located at 2210 Sheila Lane, off Forest Hill Avenue, and also at the Big Apple Supermarket located at 2916 Jefferson Davis Highway.
Free flu shots will be available to adults and children who are school age and older. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No insurance or ID is required for anyone interested in receiving a shot.
The events are a part of the Richmond Health District’s annual immunization exercise, which tests their ability to vaccinate Richmond residents quickly in the event of an emergency requiring prophylaxis of the entire city population.
The Virginia Department of Health recommends vaccinations for everyone six-months of age and older, and especially people with chronic health conditions, healthcare workers, young children, and people who work around children. Pregnant women should also be sure to get protection from the flu, the department says.
